Lascaux IV

Lascaux IV — the International Centre for Cave Art — offers visitors a contemporary interpretation of the original cave through a combination of groundbreaking exhibition design (by Casson Mann), media, and interactive installations.

The Gallery of Imagination is a digital gallery exploring the relationships between Lascaux, Paleolithic art, and twentieth-century art. Contemporary, modern, and prehistoric works can be selected through a touchscreen interface in order to create temporary exhibitions across a constellation of 90 screens. In collaboration with Atelier 144, Buzzing Light produced the interactive and multimedia installation for this digital gallery.

Through the touch interface, visitors select images and discover connections between artworks. An algorithm assists visitors in their choices in order to optimize relationships and the placement of artworks throughout the gallery screens.
